2020 VIRTUAL SUMMER FILM CAMP

In our unique Movie Arts© program, students learn the art of filmmaking through hands-on experience, active collaboration, and teamwork. Our students learn story creation, pre-production planning, on-set job roles, and production shooting. Further focused studies dive deeper into the technical aspects of filmmaking such as camera work, lighting, acting and editing, as well as costume and prop design.

This summer we have revamped our programming and optimized it for filmmaking at home! We have exciting new curriculum to share and we believe that this will give opportunity for more students to experience our programming. All your young filmmakers will need is the following:

• iPhone, iPad or DSLR camera
• Computer with access to Zoom and an editing program such as iMovie, Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• For those that will be in NYC this summer, with NY State and City COVID safety procedures in practice and consideration, students will have Scheduled Access to our studio and equipment to shoot their individual films. An Additional Studio Fee will apply and must be scheduled no later than the Friday before their Camp week so that we can prepare our studio and staff.

Each 3 Hour Day (with a 15 min snack break included) will consist of live group sessions with teachers to include a video package complete with tutorials and film samples for reference as students work on their films as well as individual work time where teachers are available for one-on-one help sessions during scheduled off hours.

We are offering 2 Film Groups:

• 9am - 12pm (9-11 year olds) or
• 1pm - 4pm (12-15 year olds)

We welcome all Automatic Studios Alumni, ages 10 and up, to apply to our Master Class Program. Please note that due to the rigorous program, Automatic Studios Approval is necessary to qualify. Please email at info@theautoamticstudios.com for more info. Please let us know what technical focus your child is most interested in: Camera Dept., A.D., Costume, Sound, Hair & Makeup. Of course, everyone will get a chance to rotate jobs but we have noticed that each child gravitates to specific roles. We want to give each kid the opportunity to grow and improve their skills in this more in-depth program. We are looking to build a strong and complete crew!
